Medical Massage for Veterans
Are You a US Military Veteran?
Are you living with chronic pain, struggling with PTSD, or recovering from an injury? Massage therapy, performed by a licensed practitioner, can be highly beneficial in promoting healing and well-being. To begin the process, you need a referral from your Doctor. This will set you on the path to a more manageable, enjoyable, and pain-free lifestyle while incorporating a holistic approach.
As an in-network provider with the US Department of Veterans Affairs, I help veterans who require medical massage receive their wellness sessions more effectively, eliminating the need for them to travel. I bring everything needed to cultivate soothing sessions, utilizing purposeful techniques and strategies that best target both patients' treatment needs and focus areas. Medical SOAP notes are documented for all patient treatments, as per referrals from their primary Doctor.

Medical massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the human body for therapeutic purposes. Massage therapy is a healthcare profession in the United States.
Currently, in the US Department of Veterans Affairs, medical massage therapy is only recommended for conditions for which there is an evidence-based approach. Each Veteran and their condition are unique, so guidance must always be applied in the context of clinical judgment and the individual patient's needs. Effective medical massage therapy treatment can typically be achieved with 8-10 sessions over a 12-week period.
Medical massage therapy is one of the evidence-based, complementary, and integrative health (CIH) approaches within the VHA Whole Health System of care, covered by the Veterans medical benefits package when deemed clinically necessary by the care team, per VA Directive 1137 — Provision of Complementary and Integrative Health (recertified December 2022).

VHA established the profession of Massage Therapy under 38 U.S.C. § 7401(3), and a qualification standard for Massage Therapists has been published.
For Care Providers: Prescribing Massage for Positive Patient Outcomes
Massage is well known as a powerful, non-pharmacological solution for chronic and acute musculoskeletal conditions, but its application doesn't end there. Arthritis, PTSD, mobility limitations, and other conditions can be alleviated with regular massage, without the risks of pharmaceutical or surgical interventions.
